My journey of culinary delights shared with a cute boy being a diabetic foodie.

If you are just joining, please to meet you and I hope you stay awhile.

What started as a personal journal back in 2010 sat brewing patiently until life threw me a curve ball. I can clearly remember the call from my doctor on July 8, 2021. On autopilot and in my routine, I was thinking about my killer workout as I headed to the office. So honestly didn’t think I would be resorting at a hospitall for a week. But there I was driving myself to the ER because my glucose level was at 770. I should have been in a coma. I should have had seizures. I should have had my organs fail. I went from a healthy happy 130 to a teetering 85 pounds. My body had finally decided to hit a hard wall and it wasn’t going to let me continue as is.

I was not the typical poster child for Type 1 Diabetes, it’s not in my blood or genes. I workout six days a week, eat tons of protein, do my squats, never skip leg day, and carbs and I are not best friends, even friends at all. My love affair with food is so intense; food is so joyful to me. I love how it’s prepped, how it’s served, how it’s shared, but mostly how I love to eat it. It literally is happiness erupting in my mouth. How does my love languages of beer, tacos, and fries translate to only 60 carb meals? This diagnosis had me completely devastated and crushed. More sadness than I can write or cry over. I struggled, still struggling and my transparency is my wholehearted honesty.

This blog is my invitation for you to join me in my journey of being healthy, eating as a diabetic, loving myself and navigating life with random snippets on love with hilarity, gratitude, and truth.
